Changelog — CX's Music
The two players are numbered and released independently, so each has its own changelog page.
Fixes the library rescan clearing song data. The scanner no longer overwrites lyrics files you set by hand.
Important — Versions 1.1.0 and earlier: rescanning the library cleared song data
The following was permanently lost and cannot be recovered: play counts and listening history, a song’s membership in every playlist (including the system Favourites list), the favourite mark, custom cover art, and the per-song lyrics translation preference.
It happens under any one of these conditions — nothing on disk needs to have changed:
- A song was added by folder scan, and you then added that single file again via “Select Files” or “Enter Path”. One tap was enough.
- You re-added a folder you had already added, and files inside it had been added or removed in the meantime. Every song in that folder lost the data above.
- You opened an audio file with CX’s Music from a file manager (via “Open with”), and that song was already in your library.
- No action required. If your library ever contained songs whose title or artist showed as garbled text (common with Japanese-tagged files), the app repairs their encoding automatically on some launch, and the songs it repaired lost the data above as well. You cannot check afterwards whether this happened.
The loss is silent: the app reports no error. You would only notice that shuffle no longer seems to know your taste, or that part of your favourites is gone.
You can check conditions 1 to 3 yourself from memory. Condition 4 cannot be checked afterwards, but it only affected songs that once had garbled tags — if your library never showed garbled text, it does not apply to you.
The next release stops this from happening again, but data already lost cannot be brought back.
