Changelog — CX'Music

The two players are numbered and released independently, so each has its own changelog page.

   2026-10-14

   Better browsing position and startup restore, more reliable data saving, and fixes to playback controls and the interface.

   Added

   • Reopening restores your page, folder or playlist, along with search, filters, sorting, grouping and list position.
   • Settings shows pending and failed audio-file writes, with an option to retry.

   Fixed

   • Editing track info or ratings, or expanding and collapsing groups, preserves your browsing position; reloading a deep page can return to the same place.
   • When a track appears more than once in the queue, restarting restores the queue entry you were using.
   • Previous goes to the preceding track instead of restarting the current one after 3 seconds; shuffle returns to the previous track in your actual playback history.
   • Playing again after an audio-output failure tries to recreate the output; another failure shows a stopped state and an error.
   • Old playback states no longer undo a newer pause, track change or close action.
   • A failed audio-file write no longer reverts saved lyrics to their old text; failed work remains available to retry.
   • After cancelling conversion, cancellation is checked again before the final save, so a temporary file is not treated as a completed result.
   • The new-playlist dialog follows the app theme.
   • Copy and paste menu text in text boxes is clearer in the dark theme.

   Improved

   • Your library and settings move to a separate user-data folder and are kept when installing over an existing version.
   • Startup restores the window, current track, position, volume and playback mode, and stays paused.
   • Damaged saved startup state falls back to a valid backup when possible; unavailable tracks, lists or window positions fall back safely.

   Install directly over a current-user installation of 1.0.2, 1.0.1 or 1.0.0, without uninstalling first. Close the player and preferably use the same folder; choose “Yes” to reinstall and keep data, or “No” to start uninstalling. First launch copies, upgrades and verifies the old library before switching to %LOCALAPPDATA%\CXMusic, keeping the original as a backup; if several libraries are found, you choose the source. This installer cannot directly replace an all-users installation; contact the maintainer first. In-app updates remain unavailable; download a new installer from the website to upgrade.

2. v1.0.2#

   2026-09-21

   A pure bugfix release: no new features, no interface changes, and no database format change. Everything fixed here is in playback control.

   Fixed

   • After the last track in Sequential playback, playback now returns to the first track and continues. There is currently no option to stop once the whole list has played.
   • The play button no longer stops responding after the last track finishes.
   • The pop when pausing and resuming playback is gone.
   • When the Sleep Timer runs out, playback now stops instead of moving to the next track.
   • Pausing near the end of a track and pressing play no longer restarts it from the beginning.
   • The Queue now updates after the library changes.
   • Files that cannot be opened are no longer shown as playing.

   You can install over 1.0.1 or 1.0.0 directly, with no need to uninstall first; your library and settings are kept. If a dialog appears during installation, choosing Yes installs over the existing version and keeps your data; choosing No starts the uninstaller.

3. v1.0.1#

   2026-08-22

   Mostly fixes, plus two useful additions. No breaking changes.

   Added

   • Format conversion: right-click a track → “Convert to…”, with FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AAC, MP3 and Opus supported, and several tracks can be converted at once. Files that already exist under the same name are skipped, never overwritten.
   • Lyrics export: right-click a track → “Export lyrics…” to save an .lrc file next to it, and several tracks can be exported at once. Existing .lrc files are never overwritten.

   Fixed

   • Playback position is now restored correctly when you reopen the app.
   • .opus files now play.
   • FLAC files with large embedded cover art now play, and their waveform is displayed. They used to be reported with the blanket message “Unsupported audio format.”
   • Editing info no longer wipes tags that were already in the file, and clearing a field on purpose now takes effect.
   • Saving no longer discards lyric changes when you edit lyrics and track info at the same time.
   • Opening Edit Info and closing it without changing anything no longer warns about unsaved changes.
   • Lyrics edited in this app now have their timings read correctly by other players. Lyrics you already saved are corrected automatically on first launch.
   • Multiple copies of the same song no longer take each other’s lyrics.
   • Your library no longer “disappears” when you reinstall into a different folder. It used to be unreadable after a location change, which looked like total data loss — the data was in the old folder all along.
   • After clearing and reimporting the library, list thumbnails no longer show the wrong track.
   • The search box no longer shows two clear buttons, and its text is no longer offset upward.

   Improved

   • Waveforms are now cached, so playing the same track a second time shows one immediately; a Waveform cache section in the settings can generate them for the whole library in one go.
   • The playback-mode and mute buttons now describe the current state in their tooltips (Sequential playback / Repeat one / Shuffle).
   • Dragging the progress bar in FLAC files is more accurate.
   • The installer and the app now show the publisher correctly (Chen Xiang).

   You can install over 1.0.0 directly, with no need to uninstall first. Your library, ratings, playlists, play history and settings are all kept, and the database upgrades itself on first launch. Installing back into the original location is recommended.
